I got a Correos slip in my mailbox about 2 days ago and I finally had time to go pick it up. Whenever I get mail, I feel like I need to sing the Blue’s Clues song, but I restrain that side of me when I am in public.
I was a little nervous to go simply because the last name on the Correos slip was not the same last name on my passport. (My passport has my maiden name because I did not have time to change all of my official documents before we left for Spain.) Although I was determined to get the letter, since as you all know, I love getting mail.
I walked into the office and when my number was called, I said my Spanish catch phrase (I don’t speak Spanish, but here) and was secretly hoping that was the only Spanish that would be spoken for the rest of the conversation. However, she kept asking me more questions in Spanish and the cool part was that I understood them! I mean, let’s not get carried away. I didn’t know how to respond, but at least there was a sign of learning. #progress
Anyway, today’s letter was from “Jane Banks!” I was Mary Poppins this summer and this little lady stole my heart. She is an incredible actress and singer; however, she can be a brat when she wants to be. All throughout show week, she would take little pieces of clear mic tape and strategically put them on my costumes or props just to see how long it would take me to notice. So, naturally, I wasn’t shocked when there was a little piece of mic tape stuck on the corner of the letter.
Even though she is a “brat,” I love her to pieces. I can’t wait to see where life takes her and her wonderful talent. Thanks for the letter, Jane and remember, anything can happen if you let it. 🙂
