This post is a shout out to all the girls that love castles and would move into one tomorrow if the opportunity presented itself.
Ok, but seriously. What little girl has not dreamed of becoming a princess? Genuinely? Every girl, whether she admits or not, wants to be treated like royalty. She wants to be loved, cherished and admired. Therefore, due to my deep down womanly desires, I love castles. They are beautiful, massive buildings that represent how awesome someone was.
So, naturally, when Mr. C proposed that we visit the Royal Palace in Madrid, I was ALL IN. The line was a little long when we arrived, but we had these great guys singing Italian opera repertoire. Great in line entertainment for a castle.
The Royal Palace has 1,450,000 sq ft of floor space with 3,418 rooms, making it the largest palace in Europe based on floor area. What?! Obviously, when you walk into the palace, you are immediately immersed into art of that time. What impressed me the most was how some rooms were simply designed and decorated based on using a certain material. For example, there was a room that was decorated with porcelain. I apologize that all of my photos (except two) were taken outside. They didn’t allow photography once you got past the grand staircase.
Even though my “castle” doesn’t look like this one, I do have a great prince that loves, cherishes and admires his princess. Thanks, Mr. C. (And everyone said, ‘awwwww!’)
Adventure Lesson Learned: No matter how much you want to, you cannot touch the pretty things in castles.
P.S. In the spirit of Halloween and castles, here is a picture of me dressed up like a princess. Yes, I am the cutest. Thank you in advance for your compliments on my adorable-ness.
P.P.S. For those of you that read my blog regularly, I apologize for the lack of posts. I have been feeling under the weather since Wednesday evening. However, I am back and ready to give you some great posts!
